Winter Storm

It's been snowing all night and day.

We stopped and bought chains for my truck this morning. The line of waiting people twisted around the store like a sleeping anaconda.

With chains on my truck tires making a comforting chug-a-chug-a-chug sound on the snow lined streets, we made a pit stop at the local grocery store to nab a few last stocking stuffers and groceries.

Every teller aisle was crammed with people loading up on supplies.

There is a strange sense of camaraderie that comes with such moments. Where normally people groused at long lines, they now stood patiently leaning on their filled grocery carts, texting on their phones or chatting with their companions.

Lord V and I spent the afternoon by the fireplace watching TV while the wind blew the falling snow in swirls around the house and across the river.

So wild. So beautiful. So cold.

I am thankful we have a warm house tonight.

Hi Kat,
The warmest we are going to get is 0C/21F on Tuesday, more snow over the next few days...I'm going to hate seeing my heating bill next month...
Yeah, I don't know where that "monkey" thing came from it just popped out and fit so I left it in..LOL!
The eggnog cake recipe is just somrthing I found while surfing and thought I'd try it because it looked like something a non baker like me could do.
I hope you enjoy your snowed in time.
(((hugs)))

I don't miss the snow, not a tiny bit - it's just so much easier to shop in short-sleeves and flip flops (it was 78 here yesterday).

On the other hand, it doesn't feel much like WARM FUZZY HOLIDAYS, so maybe I'll keep looking at your peaceful, gorgeous photos to evoke some Christmas spirit.

Cindy: You know? As I was posting my snow pics I kept thinking--oooh Cindy's gonna hate these cuz she hates snow!! LOL :D
and...the "monkey" thing was pure genius! It's already in my memory banks--waiting for the perfect moment to use! ha ha ha :D

Q: ARGH! girllll--I need me some WARMTH--STAT!
I spent a christmas during my college internship year (long ago) in St Croix, Virgin Islands. It was fantabulous to be out sailing on New Years day--but the christmas tree stood out looking very out of place in the tropical environment!

Jadey: :D they are good buddies--and act a lot like typical siblings. Poking at each other for a reaction from time to time--and getting jealous when one gets scritches and the other isn't getting any. We do a lot of two handed scritching!!!

Trish: yay! you made it to my site :D We'll put you down on our Holiday list for next year!
