Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day, Peeps.

I just have one question: "Are there gifts involved in this celebration?!"

Bring it. Bring it!

Shhh. Don't Tell Murphy!

You know those momentary lulls in life where you find yourself looking around and realize everything is moving in perfect rhythm?

That's my life (right now).

MiniWarrior is thriving and excelling. He's quite the little man now. I see glimpses of the grown up man he will become--and I see a kind, polite, charmer. He has developed amazing coping skills and daily I force myself to let go of old fears of the time I was housebound with him and couldn't fathom him ever being on his own.

Lord V and I are happy. We have a rhythm of living together that speaks of family. When one part is not there, the house seems to hold its breath--waiting for it's little family to be complete again, filling its walls with the sounds of life.

It's a good time, Peeps. A most excellent time.

I am, happy.

Time Keeps On Slipping Slipping Slipping....

I seem to have stepped into some kind of time warp--I've blinked and another weekend is over!

We've been busy getting the new house set up. We have most livable things unpacked.
The only (dreaded) job now is to rummage through the multiple boxes/tubs/bags of stuff left in the garage and decide what we need and what we can live without.

When did I become such a pack rat? I ask you. When? HMM??!

We are loving the new house. It's very strange (still) when Lord V, MiniWarrior and I are in separate rooms of the house and I hear nothing but the sound of soft doggie snores from the dog curled at my feet.

Much happiness abounds, Peeps. Mucho happiness abounds.

Fishy Business

MiniWarrior and I went to Petsmart the other day to stare at the animals. (MiniWarriors current obsession)

We visited the frogs. MiniWarrior got to hold one--and giggled with delight as it promptly pee'd on him.

Grits Mom teeth

Then it was off to visit the fish swirling around in their tanks.

We came across a goldfish so fat that his ass dragged on the gravel!

He was frantically flapping his little flippers and was all ehnnnn ehnnnn as he tried to get his gianormous ass off the floor of the tank.

MiniWarrior and I snickered at Mr FatAss while I covertly snapped pics (petsmart has a policy where you're not supposed to take pictures of their animals--I don't know why. Seems a stupid policy) with my iPhone for you all---cuz I'm all rebellious like that ;)

Normal sized fish

Mr FatAss

Ehnnn! Ehnnn!

Mmmm hmmm. Someones had one too many super sized shrimp macs!

Rent A Bag...

This just in...

You can RENT a designer handbag (or jewelry) HERE

I just have one question...

If you slip up and skip your weekly handbag payment--do the rent-a-cops break down your door and take their bag back?

Or...or...

What if you're out in public at a fashion event(swinging your designer bag making your fellow wenches green with envy) when you suddenly find yourself face down on the marble tile with a rent-a-cop ridin' your back, shakin' the contents outta yer bag.

Hmm??

Mmm hmm.

Best have yerself a backup plan, Sistah!

Monday Blogland Report

I've made my rounds in blogland--but I've only had time to catch up on what you all have been up to and have been neglectful on leaving my scratch marks in your sandboxes. So...

What did I learn on my travels?

Aafrica is on Spring Break and currently whiling her free time away on Crepe munching and Jack-n-Coke sippage.
Jealous...I'm so jealous...

Arnolds In China have apparently left China and headed back to their home state of Washington (WOO!). I am still waiting for an update from them. *stares in their general direction and drums my claws*

Bob-a-roo has consumed his St Patricks day feast EARLY without saving any leftovers for a hungry Kat (stares balefully at him) and apparently has followed up this travesty by wedging his dogs into mini bikini's. *shakes my head and tsks* (I blame it on over consumption of Country music...mmmm hmm. 'splains it all!)

Catwoman is busy growin a wee cat person in her belly. This Kat is most excited for her as I know how wonderful of a Momma she already is from reading her little man posts (even if she DID let the dog chew the brains outta her plastic baby doll the doctor gave her...) Its true. I couldn't make this shizzle up, Peeps!

Cindy is currently trapped inside her house with wild children of the corn and feverishly plotting a way to escape early to her fantabulous Disneyland trip. I'm very excited for her and hopes she has time to slink by Vancouver to visit a certain Kat (hint hint) when she passes by this way!

This is the latest picture from Cuteoverload (Lord I love this site. Ah have an ahdiction!) *shake shake shake*

Dragonlady apparently has a new ride and has been busy zooming around on it instead of posting new pictures of it so we can SEE it! *stares meaningfully in her general direction and drums a claw*

EdgyKay has made me wait so long for another hilarious post from her that she has officially passed her impatience on to me! * Z snaps in her direction: get on it, girlie or I'm gonna have to hunt you down!*

FlipFlop Momma's 11 year old spawn has a birthday today! A big shout out to the Saint Patricks day wee year-long-inducing-hemorrhoid earthling. Booya!

This is today's picture from the Hungarian Cuteoverload type blog I have a second addiction to.

It's a sickness, Peeps--with no cure in sight!

Indigo, a fellow cat loving blog lady, has proven that if one consumes enough cheese smothered nachos (the size of a small planet) one will win favor with the nacho serving restaurant owner and win a free--plate of nachos! *stick a lime on my Corona, Chickie, I'm heading on over!* I need me some free nachos! Mmmm...with jalapenos on them. Mmmmm.

Jadey, fantabulous Momma to Myst, continues to amaze me with her resilience and sweet spirit. Love the pic of you, Jadey!

LaChanson
apparently has taken down her blog shingle. You need to put it back up, Chickie! Blogland isn't the same without it! You can't let the critic's silence your voice :)
**update** apparently she has hung her shingle in a new neighborhood, HERE hurrah!

Laochies beloved Julian is ailing. I have wore out a spot on his blog rug from all my pacing, waiting for an update! Hope all is well, Laochie.

Mei Lian is apparently busy with life and her Coastie. I miss her updates on her life with the Bing family and her trials with arrogant Engineers who mistakenly try to step on her: a quiet, sweet woman with a backbone of steel.

Mikey
, AKA Microsoft Guru (which by the way--I have this annoying pop-up problem in IE that I cannot get rid of--even though I fixed the settings in the Registry--grrrr--any hints sent my way to fix this GRRR'ing problem would be greatly appreciated! *grins winsomely in your direction*)---apparently is living in a State that celebrates an ancient frozen Dude sitting in dry ice in his relatives shed.
Dude...that's just so...so...*flings up my hands and walks away muttering...*

I love me some Postsecret. Every Sunday I religiously pour over this site to see the latest Secrets that Freaks have sent in. I love seeing evidence that I'm not the only strange person out there!

Slicks Blog is one of the last places I visit (don't get your ruffled panties in a twist, Slickness, it's only 'cuz my list is alphabetical and your name is way down at the bottom)*tsk* you gotta explain these things to him else he takes it personal and gets his revenge at me by posting pictures of chicks with excess vaginal fur or men with back hair wedged into a size 0 thong. *shudders and soothes my eye twitch*
So Dude, enlighten me...last time I heard you didn't get your house but now you write that you're moving--does this mean things have changed and you DID get your house?? I hope so, Slickness!! *crossing my fingers for you* (and not just cuz I'm afraid of your eye candy posts---well ok--I lied--I'm afraid. Very. Very. Afraid. *whimper*)

Smizzo is apparently on a road trip to Vegas. She keeps taunting me with pictures. I'm J.e.a.l.o.u.s. I need me a vacation. STAT!

Perez Hiltons site I have labeled Snarky Hollywood Gossip--cuz that's what it is. He's rude, crude and well, let's face it--Hilarious! Reading his blog is sort of like watching the proverbial train wreck. You shudder, but you can't look away! How else am I gonna get my minute by minute update on all the Hollywood Freaks?! I got needs, Peeps. NEEDS!

I finish my blog walk with Mrs X. She doesn't post often enough (stares in her direction and subtly *coughs*) but its always worth a visit to see pics of her adorable babies! I started reading her blog when she was preggers with her baby girl--who's now 6months old!! Actually--soon to be 7 months, now. Where oh where has the time gone?

That's your Blog update for this week, Peeps.

See? I have been busy busy busy--but I always take time out to slink by and visit my favorite Peeps.

Kat hugs!

Friday, Friday: Busy Weekend Ahead

It's my Friday, Peeps! However, I have a very busy weekend ahead of me.

Packing, Packing, Packing--with not enough boxes and not enough storage room in sight!

ARGH.

On another note:

While I appreciate the concern from well meaning friends...if one more person asks me (today) what I plan to do when my job is up in May---I'm gonna bite them.

"UGH" of the Day

By Mike Celizic
TODAYShow.com contributor

Dr. Laura Schlessinger has never been one to shrink from controversy, and she leaped headlong into one on Monday when she said that if a husband cheats, his wife may share some of the blame.

“When the wife does not focus in on the needs and the feelings, sexually, personally, to make him feel like a man, to make him feel like a success, to make him feel like her hero, he’s very susceptible to the charm of some other woman making him feel what he needs,” the popular psychologist and radio personality said...

Lord have mercy--I read this and wanted to reach through my computer and slap this moron.

In what Universe does a man or woman have the right to demand that their partner be responsible for his or her morale choices?

You make a promise to someone, you don't betray them and then blame your betrayal of them on them.

Someone check her credentials. Doctor, indeed.

MiniWarrior~ism

There's a kid in MiniWarriors class that has been fighting with him.

He broke MiniWarriors glasses with a basketball to the face.

He's called MiniWarrior names.

The other day when I picked up MiniWarrior from school, he was frustrated and fighting back tears because he had had another fight with this (punk) kid.

Now my instincts were to march right back into school and find this kid to let him have it over making my MiniWarrior cry--but that would make MiniWarrior a Momma's boy and wouldn't help matters.

Still...a casual kid tripping Mom leg thrown out as the (punk) kid ran by me on the playground was a fantasy I dwelt on a bit.

A week went by where I heard nothing more of the (punk) kid bullying MiniWarrior so I put my trip-the-punk dream in the back page of my mental revenge book.

This past weekend MiniWarrior and I were driving home from shopping when he said:

"Mom, I've decided that (punk kid) and I are going to be sorta friends now."

"You have?"

"Yeah, cuz you know, he's got some problems but he's learning how to be better."

"He is, huh?"

"Yeah. We're all sort of learning so I've got to be patient with him."

"Well that's really mature, Hun. That's very mature, actually. I'm proud of you."

"Thanks, Mom."

"Hey Mom, have you ever seen (punk kid)'s drawings?"

"No. I never have, is he good?"

"Oh yes! He's really good."

"You know what?"

"What, Hun."

"I think the next time I see his Mom and Dad I am going to tell them that he is a really good draw-er and that they should take him to a class for drawing."

I turned and looked at my MiniWarrior and felt consumed, again, with the wonderment that follows when I am allowed to glimpse the insides of his heart.

His heart is so big it engulfs everyone around him and wraps them up in the sweetness that is, MiniWarrior.

I'm humbled, Peeps. Humbled.

Busy Busy Kat-a-roo!

I've been busy packing for the new house.

I need 100 book boxes.

Anyone? Anyone?

The living room is crammed with filled book boxes. I'm afraid if I stack them any higher we are going to lose a pet underneath should a collapse occur!

Hope everyones weekend is going grandly.

MiniWarrior and Lord V are away--so...the Kat must play!

MiniWarrior~ism

MiniWarrior has a problem understanding that everything does not have feelings, IE: Sticks, rocks...

Lord V and I took him on a little hike along the Portland boardwalk this weekend, overlooking the Willamette River.

"Hey, Miniwarrior, let's toss sticks in the water and see who's races down the river faster." I said, picking up two sticks laying on the ground.

"No, Mom!" MiniWarrior exclaimed, his brow furled in anxious lines. "The sticks will get lonely!"

"Honey, the sticks won't get lonely."

"Why, don't sticks have feelings?"

"No, only things with souls have feelings." I explained.

oh cripes, how do I explain what a soul is to him now?

"And don't ask me what a soul is. I don't know if I can explain it to you."

"Oh, I know what a soul is." MiniWarrior said with a nod of his head.

"You do?"

"Yep."

"So, what do you think a soul is?" I asked, intensly curious as I have never really discussed religion or the various philosophies surrounding that topic with him.

"It's the place right here." He said thumping his chest by his heart. "It's the place that holds all my feelings and remembers them."

I blinked and stared at him for a minute, speechless in the face of amazing brilliance that is, MiniWarrior.

I reached over and enfolded him into my arms pressing him close to my soul. "You're absolutely right, MiniWarrior."

Absolutely, fantastically, right.

New Toy!

I apologize for my lack of blogging---but I've been busy with my new toy!

Lookie...lookie! Isn't it purrrrrrrrty?? *girlie squeal*

Computer Question: HELP!!

***UPDATE***

I called a coworker and he sent me this link: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=921049

Apparently this was a registry issue. I followed the instructions and now have my Wallpaper back!!

WOO!!

***************************

I need your help, Peeps.

I'm stumped.

I've lost the ability to put a wallpaper on my desktop.

I (normally) use the Webshots wallpaper program. You can Ctrl + Shift + W to change the wallpapers or you can go into the program and change it there.

When I Ctrl+Shift+W, it acts like its activating a wallpaper--but I still get a blank screen background.

I cannot choose a picture on my desktop and right click it to make it my wallpaper--and when I go to Display Properties and choose Desktop--its frozen. It won't let me choose a wallpaper.

I can change the color of the background and I can move my icons around...I just cannot put a wallpaper up.

WTH, Peeps??

Any ideas?

MiniWarrior~ism

Should we rename MiniWarrior to MiniArtist? :) Here's the latest drawing of MiniWarrior. He drew a picture for his frog habitat so his imginary frog (I ain't going there with him, Peeps. I can't do anymore animals!!) could have a change of scenery.

The bugs are stickers he pasted on.

Work View

I was digging around in my photo album and came across a couple of pictures I had taken of downtown where I work.

I thought I'd amuse you Punks with them.

Alright, OK. I admit it. I have nothing else to blog about, Mmm k?!

MiniWarrior~ism

For those who have followed my blog these past two years know that my son MiniWarrior is Autistic.

Autism is a difficult disability to define.

I've been told that Autistics:

1. Don't make eye contact
2. Don't feel empathy
3. Don't speak or have difficulty speaking
4. Live in their own worlds and cannot relate to others

MiniWarrior (like his Momma) defies labels.

If you met my MiniWarrior you would understand.

He loves people. He will actively seek you out to chatter your ear off; his lips spread wide in a teeth gapping grin of happiness.

His eyes will sparkle with animation and he'll closely follow yours to watch for clues of your own happiness.

He struggles with facial expressions. If you are stoic, he will watch you closely to see if you are angry with him.

He doesn't understand sarcasm and he is just learning the basics of language based humor.

Lord V loves puns and will often say a silly one and then grin at MiniWarrior to show that he has made a joke.

Like:

"Hey Lord V. do you like frogs?"

"Toad-ally, MiniWarrior. Toad-ally."

MiniWarrior will search his face closely and run the words through his head. You can see the labor process and then suddenly, miraculously, his face will light up and he will laugh with delight.

"That's a good one, Lord V!" He will exclaim and then he'll add it to his list of favorite things to say.

Repetition is a big thing with MiniWarrior. If he's allowed, he will eat the same food, watch the same movies, play with the same toys and speak only of his favorite topics over and over again. He never tires. In this he is un-exhaustible.

I've worked with MiniWarrior through his 10 years of life to endure variety. He balks and complains but he has learned to be more flexible and to accept changes in his routine. Small ones...but he no longer flings himself to the ground in a rage when his daily routine is disrupted.

This past summer he has become consumed with bug collecting (as most of you know). He's still consumed with bugs. He draws them, talks about them, reads about them, plays with bug toys...etc. He is...Bug Boy.

I had a lengthy conversation with him, on the way to school a few months ago, about his all consuming passion to talk only about bugs.

I explained to him that he must not only talk about bugs to people.

"But Mom, I love bugs!"

"Yes I know, MiniWarrior, but other people do not wish to always talk about bugs. They will grow bored and not want to talk with you."

"But I LOVE bugs!"

"Yes I know. But to have a conversation with people you must talk not only of things you love but allow them to talk about things they love, too."

We discussed 5 different conversations topics he could talk to people about: Animals, planets, weather, video games and favorite TV shows.

We practiced as we drove along. Just when he got comfortable with one topic and started obsessing with it, I would force him to change to another topic. He was so very frustrated with me.

I mention all of this because of something that happened this past Saturday night.
Something I just had to tell you all because I am just so proud.

Saturday evening, we dropped MiniWarrior off at an open gym night. A gymnastic place where kids can climb and run and play while their parents go out for a few hours to enjoy adult freedom.

This was the first time that we dropped MiniWarrior off without his friend tagging along with him so we were a little nervous as to how well he'd do alone. But, he's done things alone before like Summer Camp and seemed to do very well.

We were standing in line waiting to sign him in when he turned to talk to a boy standing beside him.

"Dude, do you have Nintendo DS?" He asked, his face scrunched in intense concentration watching closely to see the other boy’s reaction.

"No" The kid replied offering nothing more to the conversation.

Undefeated MiniWarrior shuffled his feet and pressed forward, "I do." He added with a tentative smile.

"I have a Wii." The boy added begrudgingly.

MiniWarriors face lit up. "Oh, Dude! Do you have Super Mario? I love Super Mario!"

Interest flickered on the boys face and he turned slightly towards MiniWarrior, "Yeah I have..." and proceeded to list the Wii games he had.

MiniWarrior relaxed and chattered with him until we signed him in.

Lord V and I went back to my truck and I had to sit for a minute and process the miracle I had just seen.

My Autistic son had not only engaged a peer in conversation, he had assessed the situation and thought through on what this particular person might like to converse about.

He not only had successfully initiated conversation he had brilliantly steered it towards the most basic of beginning friendship: Common ground.

Experts say this cannot be done by Autistics.

Experts don't know my MiniWarrior.

He makes me proud, Peeps.

Dang proud.

Empty Baggage: Free To Disfunctional Home

You know how when you're cruising along in the convertible of life (top down, sun shining, hair flying in the breeze) and a big ol' June bug comes buzzing along and splats you, leaving its grisly remains on your forehead?

Mmm hmm. That was me. This weekend.

I'd been sailing through these past months weathering the bumps along the way with the ease of a sure legged sea captain...when all of sudden steel rimmed baggage from my past came flying and knocked me on my ass.

*Whomp!*

*Splat!*

And there I lay, holding a hand to the goose egg on my heart, surrounded by the ugly granny undie contents wondering what the hell just happened to me.

It wasn't pretty, People. But then, inner baggage never is.

It's painful to see the hidden contents splayed around you in the sharpness of sunlight; ragged grey pieces, that you've kept hidden in the bottom drawer of your inner self, exposed for all those around you to see.

Instinct makes you want to scoop the ugliness up and toss it back into the shadows. It's embarrassing to have it exposed to those whom you love and seek respect from.

But, I found out that love makes you pause mid scoop and re-evaluate; it makes you brave and strong. It enables you to look into the eyes of people who love you, despite the hidden contents, and allows you to let them help you unpack that bag and push its contents into the garbage bin where it belongs.

One less bag to cart around.

It's a most excellent feeling, Peeps.

Most excellent feeling, indeed.

MiniWarrior~ism: Dragonfly Goodness!

MiniWarrior was off school today cuz of Presidents weekend.

I took advantage of having him home during the week to drag him to a Cafe named Dragonfly.

My Mini Bug lover was most pleased.

We feasted upon Valentine decorated cupcakes and slurped down Iced Mochas.

After our feast we staggered out with belly's full and headed to the movies to see Spiderwick Chronicles.

It was an entertaining flick.

MiniWarriors review: "It was a little bit scary, but it was a good movie!"

Tuesday Repast

Gather 'round, Kiddies and I shall tell you a story from my past.

I shall entitle it:

School girl crush

My family sold our home and moved to a larger one during the middle of my 9th grade year of High School.

I had missed the initual first weeks of school pecking order rituals so I wandered the outskirts of formed cliques like a shadow; a silent observer.

One of my favorite observation targets was a senior boy (who's name escapes me now after all these years)

He was tall, lean and moved with the athletic grace of a panther. He had short black hair with long bangs that hung over his eyes giving him the hormone tingle enducing bad boy look. Girls swarmed around him like flies on ripened fruit and I wanted him.

Bad

Alas, my status as a puny freshman who lived in the social shadows doomed any fantasy I had of ever being noticed by him until one infamous day. A day so horrible it lays inside my memory like a jagged scar.

I had finished P.E. class, showered, changed clothes and was walking my dirty clothes up the pathway towards the building that held my locker.

I dodged around the cluster of kids that hung by the pillars that lined the walkway and felt the familiar jolt of my heart when I saw the object of my school girl crush leaning against one of the pillars.

Be cool, I muttered to myself. Breathe. Breathe. Just keep walking. Don't act like a geek.

My legs felt wobbly and I labored to keep them moving in a casual, nonchalant walk.

My heart was pounding so loud it made my ears buzz.

Keep walking. Keep walking. Don't look at him. Just walk past him. I chanted to myself.

I passed by him and was taking my first breath of relief when I heard him speak.

"Eh em, hey you."

I jolted to a stop. Was he talking to me?

"Hey. You!"

Oh my god.

I turned slightly and looked at him from the corner of my eye.

He was looking right at me with those gorgeous chocolate brown eyes.

I felt my heart stop then start beating a frantic beat as adrenaline shot through me.

I watched mesmorized as his beautiful mouth turned upwards into a smile.

"You dropped something."

I blinked. "Huh?"

"You dropped something."

I followed his eyes to the ground by his feet and felt myself freeze in horror.

There in all their undignified glory, lay the dirty underwear I had been carting back to my locker!

Please-Lord-let-there-be-a-sink-hole-that-will-swallow-me-whole

With no sink hole forthcoming I lunged and swooped my panties up, my face ablaze with internal fire.

Laughter followed me as I scuttled away.

My school girl crush ended that day.

Burned to a crisp in the fires of my humiliation.

Well Hell, It's Monday

Happy Monday, Peeps.

How was everyone's weekend?

We had smatterings of spring like weather this weekend.

Lord V and I took a long walk on Saturday. Birds were chirping and the air had that distinct smell of Springness. It made me downright giddy with happiness!

I read Senator John McCain’s book, "Faith of My Fathers" on Wednesday and watched his speech to the Conservative party on Thursday. He did a fantastic job.

I don't debate politics as it is like debating religion. It's too personal of a choice and I do not believe in trying to sway people to my view point.

You gotta vote on your own beliefs. :)

For me, it's about character. John McCain endured years of torture for our Country. That sounds so benign, "years of torture". Even after reading the details of his years as a POW my mind could not quite grasp the horror of what he went through.

I found myself focusing on one incident in the many he endured. 10 days he was forced to sit upon a stool while they beat him morning, noon and night trying to get him to sign a negative statement about America.

10 days, People.

He had multiple broken bones: His legs, both his arms, his ribs...yet he sat upon that stool and took the abuse for his love of his country. Our country.

Is he a Maverick? Yes. Does he make mistakes? Yes.

Does he love our Country and is he willing to do what’s best for her and us beyond the political crap reasons we've seen for so many years from other candidates? Yes.

I like the thought of having a dedicated soldier at the helm of our country’s command in these turbulent times.

Happy Saturday!

Feeling better today.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

I'm managed to keep my work out appointments with Curves through this bout of sickies and I think that's what has kept me healthy.

If I lay down, I feel lousy.

If I force my body to move, I feel much better.

It's a new concept for me. Diet AND exercise. Usually I just do one or the other.

I'm starting to see some results for my efforts and that makes for a happy kat :)

Work is as dismal as ever.

I think that's part of why I got so run down.

Final insult was being told we must attend a meeting with new company if I wanted a future job, so I zoomed downtown with a coworker in tow.

We arrived at the meeting with resumes in hand only to find out it was a benefit meeting for the teams who will still have jobs. Our team was excluded.

We sat through a 3 hour meeting listening to the benefits, the company mission, etc...and at the end, when we presented our resumes, they refused to take them.

"Apply online" we were told.

You know, I don't care if they took my paper resume and tossed it in the garbage after I'm gone. I showed up and listened patiently to their meeting, the very least they could have done is taken it from me and explained that I should also apply online so there is an electronic copy of my resume.

*tsk*

Bad business all around. It left our team feeling despondent and unworthy after years of dedicated service.

To add insult to injury, they arranged for the company who's taking over our jobs to send one of their people for us to train the next week.

"us" meaning me, as we are so short staffed I'm the only one working the hours that the person would be there.

He was a very nice man and we got along fine.

But, it's been very depressing after 13 years of loyal service to be flicked to the side like the proverbial red-headed step child.

Guido~ness

I took Guido-the-cat to the groomers this weekend.

I had them put soft claws on him so our new house will be protected from the Guido Claw.

Soft claws (for those who do not know) is an alternative to declawing.

They're colored (or clear) caps that slide over their claws and are glued on.

I snapped a few pics of Guido and the indignity he endured.

He did great but protested a bit when his back claws were worked on.

He mrowrrrrrrrrrrd really loudly at the nice lady groomer but didn't bite or attempt to scratch her.

Better her than me, that's all I gotta say.

I don't think I'd have survived it without fresh scars!!

Yadda Yadda Yadda...

My thoughts have been consumed with my work situation.

As I do not think it wise to discuss detail work situations on a public blog...I have been lagging on posting to my blog.

I've been told my work ends May 14th.

Maybe.

Uh huh.

'nuff said.

This Just In...

I just received an email from MiniWarriors teacher.

Subject: Just a heads up

"MiniWarrior had OT (occupational therapy) today.

Ms K is 6 months pregnant.

Today he really noticed and said, "you are really pregnant, you need my help" and he helped her lift the swing.

Then he asked, "how are babies made?"

Ms.K said,"We just decided we wanted a baby."

MiniWarrior then said,"No, really, how do babies get made?"

Ms K told him he should ask his parents so, good luck with that!!!

...

God help me.

Haphazardkat Update

I know. I know. I've been slacking on the blogging part.

I've tried to make my daily rounds and leave comments when I can but I've been busy, Peeps.

Dang busy.

My job is wrapping up. After 13 years it's a little disconcerting. I've been pounding out my resume to as many places as I can so that takes up a lot of my free computer time.

Other news is, Lord V, MiniWarrior and I have found a new home!

We spent half the day today yacking with the realtors while the inspection team did their thing.

We are very excited but needless to say, the house hunting and all the paperwork involved after finding one has taken up a lot of our time.

The dizziness I experienced after surgery has passed. Hurrah!

It's nice to feel normal again...

Well...as "normal" as I ever feel. ;)

Losin' My Mind

I was sitting at work yesterday, trying to shake off the lingering dizziness that the surgery drugs have left me with, when I realized something.

I'm missing information.

There are gaps in my pre-surgery memory.

I remember laying talking to one of the anesthesiologists and the man telling me he was waiting for his colleague.

I remember teasing Lord V 'cuz the book I brought to the Hospital was a cheesy romance (complete with bodice ripping cover) and he was going to have to carry it around with him while I was in surgery...

(hehehehe)

And...

I remember waking up from surgery.

Mmm....k?

Where the heck did the rest of the memories go?

I asked Lord V if the anesthesiologist had snuck some drugs into my IV--he said no, that I was wide awake and talking to him when they finally wheeled me towards the carving room.

I have no memory of this, Peeps.

It's a bit disconcerting!

My grey matter has been messed with.

This entire weekend I've struggled with following conversations.

I have a hard time following a full train of thought.

You know how it is talking to a person on a cellphone and words get spaced out because of a bad connection?

This is my brain post surgery, Peeps.

Someone inform OnStar.

My brain is missing!

All Is Well

Surgery went well.

Thanks to you all for all the good wishes sent my way :)

I've spent the past two days laying on the sofa like a bloated San Francisco harbor seal, trying to gather my energy for when MiniWarrior gets off of school.

He was most displeased with me for having to spend a few extra days at Dads house instead of mine during the hospital business.

It's nice to be so loved and missed but sheesh! The kid can lay a guilt trip on heavier than a Jewish Mother!

Oi, Vai!

It's Freakin' COLD Out!

ARGH! I think my girl bits have frostbite!!

I need a vacation to someplace warm, Peeps. Warm!

The newest ache in my ankle bones tells me perhaps my frolicking in the Ocean New Years Eve wasn't the wisest of choices.

Sure was fun though! hehehehe

In other news:

I watched part of (I fell asleep, dangit!!) the Terminator TV show last night. Is it just me, or does this new show ROCK?!! LOVE the terminator girl. L.O.V.E. her!

And yet more news:

Thursday I will be gone for another throat surgery.

The last doctors visit left me with some GOOD news. Apparently, my Doc has devised a way to treat my throat In Office! If things go well, I'll only have to meet with him every couple of months for a quick touch up in his office and then I'm good to go!

Quick touch up.

That just sounds...wrong.

*blink*

Anyways.

After having had surgery 2-3 times a year since I was 9, this is grand news, Peeps.

Grand news!

OK. This post makes it official.

I've just filled an entire post complaining about aching bones and doctor procedures.

I'm OLD!!!

*waves an arthritic wrinkled hand*

Go about your business, Young'ins.

I need a nap.

Busy Days...

Argh! It's been busy around my house this week.

Friday, MiniWarrior turned 10

*sniffle*

Where oh where has my baby gone?!

Gone are the days when he smiled and napped half the day away.

They are replaced with sassing, eye rolls and the pre-teen record player bleating of "Mommmmmmmmmm, can I have...."

*sigh*

Just when I think he's grown up past the little boy who owns my soul he comes running to me, clutching his beloved stuffed cat, Butterscotch.

"Mommmm, Butterscotch is hurt! She has a tear in her skin!"

His lower lip trembles and he thrusts her out to me with pleading eyes.

"Can you fix her?"

He sits anxiously watching me while I sew Butterscotch back up.

"It's Ok, Butterscotch, Mom will make you all better." He croons, stroking the matted fur on her leg.

"Poor poor Butterscotch, do the stitches hurt you?"

"Aww, don't cry Butterscotch, it's almost over..." He pats her tummy intently watching each stab of the sewing needle.

I patch a couple of places worn from little boy hands rubbing her fur seeking comfort.

MiniWarrior holds her tight and carrys her upstairs to his room after the surgery.

"There there, Butterscotch. You're all better now..." he murmers softly.

I watch him leave with Mom tears looming.

I am keenly aware that these moments are fast becoming rare and soon will disappear all together.

For All The Mom's Out There

Dragonlady emailed me the link to this song the other day.

Lord V and I laughed ourselves silly over it and promptly sent it to every person we know!

Enjoy!

The Mom Song Sung to William Tell Overture with Lyrics
