Happy Humpday!

It's my Friday.

*woop!* *woop!*

I'm especially looking forward to this weekend as it's 4th of July celebration time!

Lord V and I went out and got a BBQ last night in preparation for the big cookout feast!

(Well that and the last time I used our indoor countertop grill I set off the fire alarm...causing the fire company to call and Guido-the-cat to shoot out the open front door in feline panic which he didn't show his face again til the next morning--thus causing me to panic and have a crappy nights sleep.)

But, I digress...

So...yes...

*cough*

Celebration time!

WOO!!

*pumps fist and eyeballs the new grill with shifty nervous eyes*

Ya'all have a grand humpday--and great 4th celebration if I don't make it back to blogland before then!

I have retired the beast to the corner of the garage.

Enter a new phase of .....*drum roll*

PINK GOODNESS!!

I've been biking up and down my street with a big grin on my face. The neighbors must think I'm crazy!

Meh. I don't care.

She's a grand bike.

I stayed up til 11:30 Saturday night playing Lego Indiana Jones (it rawks!) which made it very hard to get up at 5am for work.

I received an email from Lord V Sunday morning saying:

MiniWarrior~ism

Lord V and I worked with MiniWarrior last week to try and teach him how to ride his bike.

As he is Autistic--it's been a labor because he spaces out and forgets to pedal and he doesn't get the whole "center your body so you don't tip over" thing.

Lord V and I took turns running beside MiniWarrrior, frantically hanging on to his bike and shoving ourselves against it to hold him upright. It was exhausting to say the least.

Monday evening I received a call from MiniWarriors Dad telling me that MiniWarrior had something to tell me.

Hi Mom!

Hi Baby.

Guess what?

What?

I learned to ride my bike!

You did?!

Yep, I sure did!

Oh my gosh! Congratulations, Son!

Thanks, Mom! I did like you said. I remember you sayin' about that kid who took 2 weeks to learn and how sometimes he fell and skinned his knees but he didn't give up and guess what?

What, Hun.

I didn't give up!

I'm so proud of you!

Yep. Me too. I'm proud too!

Wait. Wait. I've got to tell Lord V.

*bellowing up to Lord V in his library*

LORD V! MINIWARRIOR LEARNED TO RIDE HIS BIKE!

OMG! THATS WONDERFUL! CONGRATULATIONS!!

*proud little boy giggle on the phone*

Thank you!

I didn't give up, Mom. Just like you tole me. I didn't give up.

I'm all sorts of proud, Peeps. I got sappy, proud Momma tears.

Our MiniWarrior rocks.

Daily *Snort*

The following is a conversation I had with a (male) coworker today.

Me: So...yesterday I did the total girlie thing.

CO: Wassat?

Me: I was driving home from work when I noticed a clump of daisies growing by the entry to my road. I drove home then begged Lord V to walk with me to the daisies so I could pick them.

CO: *smirk*

Me: He was very sweet. He only sighed (patiently) and shook his head when I paused to take a picture of the flowers before picking them.

CO: That wasn't a sigh. That was his soul escaping...

Magic Moon

Last night the moon was huge!

I had read that the moon would appear larger than usual this week. Something to do with the position of the earth.

It was incredible to see!

I tried to capture it with my camera.

News of the Wierd

This is some bizzare shizzle, Peeps!!

Woman Who Died While Watching TV Sat Unfound for 42 Years
Hedviga Golik made herself a cup of tea and sat down to watch some television in her home town of Zagreb, Croatia. Sadly, she died in her chair. This was in 1966. She was just found, 42 years later, in her time capsule mausoleum where she's been sitting ever since. She never finished her tea.

What's absurd is that she was in fact reported missing, but somehow no one ever checked her apartment, which leads me to believe no one checked anywhere. I mean, where else do you look for someone when they're missing? I don't understand it. Her neighbors apparently just assumed she moved out of her apartment, and she was finally found when the police broke in to figure out who owned the place.

A police spokesman said: "When officers went there, they said it was like stepping into a place frozen in time. The cup she had been drinking tea from was still on a table next to the chair she had been sitting in and the house was full of things no one had seen for decades. Nothing had been disturbed for decades, even though there were more than a few cobwebs in there."

Well, that's unsettling. [DailyRecord; img]

Greek Celebration

The Greek restaurant--famous for its giant purple octopus mascot--in downtown Portland, is celebrating 30 years of business.

They make a mean tuna hogie sandwich! Huzzah!

Congrats!

A Piece of Paradise

The Sun made its first Pre-Summertime debut this weekend.

Lord V, MiniWarrior and I dragged all the lawn furniture out then celebrated with a picnic lunch.

Yesterday I was trapped inside at work and longed to feel the Sunshine on my Winter white--rash bruised skin. I daydreamed the work day away thinking of the cushion lined bench that sat nestled in a corner of our backyard.

I zoomed home, made some dinner for Lord V, then snatched up my pillow, book and a wine cooler and headed outside to the bench.

I lay listening to the sound of hawk cries coming from the woods and the sound of the waves, slow moving sailboats created, lapping against the shore.

My book lay unread on my tummy as my mind was filled with the feast of nature.

Lord V joined me afterwhile and we sat commpanionably sipping our drinks and reading our books.

How long will this last? I don't know. But for now? It's paradise.

Color Me Happy!

I was feeling a little blue as today's Fathers Day and my Father is gone.
I roamed around Borders bookstore poking at books during my lunch hour when I decided to get an ice coffee on my way back to work.

The girl making my ice coffee put pink whipped cream on top!

It's silly--I know--but it instantly switched my mood from melancholy to happy. :)

It takes so little.

Happy Fathers Day!

To the Daddy's, Step Daddy's and Significant Other's who work hard to create a safe and loving world for their kids.

Weekend Sickies

Its my weekend and once again--I'm sick.

This time I am covered with a rash that looks like chicken pox--but I've already had chicken pox and shingles.

I have no fever. Just mild nausea. I don't really itch. I'm just covered with unattractive plague spots.

What the hell?

Maybe I'm allergic to weekends??!

Bah.

This is what I get for bragging to my coworkers how I've managed to avoid all the flu's this past year and was surprised how healthy I was...

Politics

Whatever your political view--I found this to be a very interesting article.
It's an interview of John McCain in 1973 of his time as a POW in Vietnam.

http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/2008/01/28/john-mccain-prisoner-of-war-a-first-person-account.html

I couldn't help but think when I was reading it of how I would have reacted if put in a similar situation.

Would I have remained strong? Or would I have caved and turned survivalist--caring only for my welfare at the expense of others.
