A camping we will go. (god help me)
I've devised a plan to appease my MiniOne. I have purchased a tent and will set it up in the backyard. We will build a little bonfire (I have a sandpit area) and roast marshmellows and hotdogs.
Other than the constant grind of traffic noise, it will be as close to a camping experience as I can (ok, am willing) to offer. He can even toss a fishing line into the creek and pretend to fish.
AND...if we get bored or the tent is too hot? Home is a few steps away!
Am I not a genius? Hmm? Huh?

and you should catch kill and eat your food. you can cook it if you feel the need
I had a nightmare like that once...*shudders*
Absolutely! My kids used to LOVE doing that! We used to invite the whole bloomin neighborhood! Had a "girls" tent and a "guys" tent. The girls were ok alone because they were tweens and teens. The X roomed with the guys. And MotherHen Dragon kept the "babies" in a third tent under her wing! Barbecued outside, roasted mushmellons and sang in front of the fireplace "campfire".... The kids knew it wasn't going away camping but loved it just as much as if we had pulled up stakes and gone to a state park or campground for the weekend!
I'm sure your MiniWarrior will love it just as much!

Sounds like an excellent plan to me. MANY accolades to the Kat! MiniWarrior will be pleased... or appeased! Will you be using flint and steel to start the fire? It's easy!! Sorta like fixing a bicycle tire!! hahaha!!

I think camping is something best experienced in a luxury camper!

I figure the main things people enjoy about camping is sleeping in the tent and cooking marshmellies over the fire. The rest of the time you just lay around bug bitten and bored!

i did this last year with 'fred'..my x stalker. It was fun actually. ALmost as good as camping with half the work!
i wonder if i still can back out from my camping trip :(
